Swarm Prevention and Control.  Swarming is the natural way honey bees reproduce at the superorganism level.  While good for the bees, it is not so good for the beekeeper.  There are several methods beekeepers can use to prevent colonies from developing the urge to swarm in the first place.  Brad will also be covering a few methods to control the swarming impulse if bees are making preparations to swarm. This is an especially helpful talk given the upcoming busy season!

Brad Sumter has been keeping bees for five years. He is the past president of the Omaha Bee Club where he helped start the annual Omaha Bee Convention. His interests include queen rearing, swarm catching, and reading anything written by Dr. Tom Seeley.
